UPDATE: Due to the severe weather predicted for tonight, class in Waconia IS cancelled. Stay home and be safe!  Reminder that students can go to other locations as much as they want during the sessions, this is a great way to make up any missed classes. We are super excited to be sending 21 students to the National Taekwondo Institutes Spring Tournament! Reminder to all tournament participants- read over your rule sheet for a refresher on our expectations for the day. Wear a clean uniform and don't forget to pack everything you need! You should arrive between 9-9:30am. If anyone would like to come watch the tournament, the address is: Owatonna Middle School 500 15th St NE Owatonna, MN Tournament starts at 10am and runs until around 4pm.

I am out of class for the week, I should be back from NY by Monday the 7th! Thanks to Ms Stacy and Mr Watson for handling classes in my absence, as well as to all our black belts and red belts who will be assisting. A few reminders: -Waconia Class: new session starts this Monday 3/31. Please get on the list or bring your registration confirmation to class. -Belle Plaine class: new session starts this Wednesday 4/2 -Tournament students: Papers and payment are due by 4/12. You can turn these in any time to Ms Stacy. -Starting Wed, lower rank students who would like to sword spar for tournament are invited to stay for the first 10 minutes of second hour to practice and learn the rules. If you have practice sticks please bring them!

 We have been working on improving sparring in our advanced group, and have decided to add a Sparring Class. Similar to the Weapons Class, this will take place in the last 20-30 minutes of second hour, and is for Green belts and above. It will be a specially scheduled week, our first week being sometime in April (before the NTI tournament) date TBA. The goal is to practice full contact sparring, so I need students to start looking into full gear!  If you want to be included in the full contact group you MUST have: -Head Gear (face shield recommended, required for tournament sparring) -Chest Protector *Highly recommended:  -mouthguard  -groin cup for gentlemen.  I will be offering a 20% off sale on head and chest gear, order to be placed Wed March 26th . Belle Plaine class tonight (3/5) should be cancelled, I am just waiting for confirmation from Comm Ed. Reminder of our snow policy- if the school hosting class cancels, so does TKD. We do not offer make up days, but allow you to train at other locations throughout the 6 week session at no extra cost.  I will update this post once I get confirmation! Advanced class: we will make up the missed weapons class on Wed next week.

 We will be doing weapons practice in all advanced classes this week. Green belts and above- bring your bo and chucks! 

If you sign up at the Waconia location, but signed up after Friday afternoon, please bring a registration confirmation to class 2/17 as you will not be on my list. There is no school so I will not get an updated list. This location is getting more firm on students not being signed up prior to the session start date. 

 Several people have reached out about the expected weather tonight into tomorrow morning.  The Shakopee location rarely cancels, and I don't believe we are expecting as much snow as initially thought, so we will likely have class. If anything changes I will make an announcement both on the blog and FB page by 8am. Shakopee registered students will receive an email as well. If no announcement is made, class (and test) will run as normal. 

 We DO have class tonight! The school will be locked but we have a key to get in on non-school days. Reminder that we are back at our normal location- Bayview Elementary. Enter in the back of the school at the loading dock. 

The Waconia class will be moving to a different location for class tonight (1/6) and next week (1/13). The classes will be held at Waconia Middle School in the cafeteria.
